Before your session

A few things to think about...

What do you want to get out of your session? What is the number one shot that you would like to take away? Let me know your vision, and don't be afraid to send me examples of what you like so that I can help capture what you have in mind!

Timing is important from the time of day, to the date you schedule the session:

-Lighting is very important in photographs. If you are thinking outdoor portraits then plan to meet up early in the morning (within say an hour of sunrise) or late in the evening (an hour or so before sunset) for the most flattering light. Bright sun= harsh unforgiving light, unflattering shadows, squinty eyes, not good!

-If we're taking photos of your little ones, keep in mind their schedule when planning your session time...We don't want to try to force happy kiddos to sit still and smile for the crazy photo lady when it's nap time :) Also think about props that may add to the photo. Perhaps a favorite pair of shoes, or their special blankie. Anything that showcases their little personality!

-For Maternity photos, anywhere around 25-35weeks will be great...too early and there isn't enough baby bump, and too late and we might miss the maternity stage all together.

-For Newborn photos, the sooner the better...within 10days and we can capture adorable squishy sleepy newborn poses. Plan on a few hours for these sessions to allow time in between for feeding, diaper changes, soothing baby to sleep. I'm patient, I'll wait for you to calm baby to get the right shot! The older the baby, the less "bendy" and sleepy they are, and the longer the process can take.

Having trouble deciding what to wear?

Pick a palate of colors that go together and coordinate (not match!) each person's outfit.  Think seasonal, and appropriate to the setting you will be photographed in.  Choose simple, classic outfits (avoid logos or anything trendy that could "date" your picture - you want to be timeless!) Overall, choose something that everyone is comfortable and feel great in!  Still stuck? Here's some great inspiration!
